The agent of Kaio Jorge has revealed Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were among the clubs to have shown interest in the striker before he agreed to join Juventus.

Jorge came up through the ranks of Santos’ youth system before making his way into the Brazilian club’s first team in 2018.

The 19-year-old’s displays for Santos caught the attention of several clubs across Europe, and among them are AC Milan, Benfica, the Reds and Spurs. However, it was the Turin club who were successful in acquiring his services.

Andrea Bagnoli, the Brazilian’s agent has given a detailed interview to Calciomercato, and has discussed certain details of the deal and also confirmed the interest shown by the two Premier League sides.

When quizzed over who else wanted Jorge besides Milan and Benfica, the representative said: “I know that he was followed with interest by Atlético Madrid, Liverpool and Tottenham, but all the top clubs were informed.”

“I really think so [€3m fee is a bargain], because Juve jumped at the opportunity by taking advantage of the situation of his contract which would expire in a few months. He was followed by several European clubs, but in the end the most decisive club always wins.”

This would indicate that neither Liverpool nor Tottenham made a decisive effort to sign the teenager.

When discussing his client’s profile, Bagnoli explained: “A little Lautaro, a little Firmino; he is a player with their characteristics, but by finding him the right position and giving him experience he can also turn into a Neymar. The work he will do with Allegri will certainly be fundamental.”
