Erik ten Hag’s links to the SEG agency, founded by new Ajax director of football Alex Kroes, may be fuelling reports of a return from Manchester United to the Dutch club.
NOS cover the situation at Ajax today and Kroes’, who takes charge of matters this week, efforts to find a replacement for current interim boss John van ‘t Schip.
They explain that there are currently three names being discussed within Ajax for the managerial position, but Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is not one of them.
While there have been plenty of rumours that he could leave Old Trafford in the summer and return to his former club, the club where he undoubtedly made his name, there is no actual certainty to them.
Rather, the Manchester United manager is affiliated with the SEG agency, who were founded by Kroes. It is potentially that connection which is fuelling the rumours about the Dutchman potentially returning.
For now, Ten Hag is not on the list of options being considered, with it actually split between Dave Vos, Pepijn Lijnders and Pascal Jansen.
There is time for that to change, of course, particularly if Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co decide to head in a different direction with United from the summer.
Kroes, though, is keen to solve the issue of a new manager ‘as quickly as possible’ and the only tangible link to Ten Hag for the time being is that association with the SEG agency.
