Earlier this month, L’Equipe made it clear that Tottenham, via Daniel Levy’s €45m ‘verbal expression, were very interested in Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, who recently extended his contract with the Ligue 1 side by an extra year.
Whether that was a show of loyalty or just an agreement between player and club to get the price up for a big transfer next summer, we’ll have to wait and see, but one thing appears certain: Paris Saint-Germain might have to look elsewhere.
The Ligue 1 champions were said to be providing competition for Spurs, yet according to Paris United, the Twitter account very close to the French side, Ndombele ‘doesn’t want to go’ to the capital.
If true, however, it could end up being good news for Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy, who are bracing themselves for a Mousa Dembélé exit next summer when the Belgian midfielder’s contract comes to an end.
Ndombele could certainly be a good replacement, even if they aren’t like for like in the way they play.
So, advantage Spurs?
