Emmanuel Adebayor is looking for a new club after his move to Lyon collapsed at the last minute.
The French club had been very keen to sign the free agent, but strangely backed away at the last minute, citing concerns with Adebayor’s Africa Cup of Nations involvement.
The 32 year old is finding it a bit of a struggle to get a new club after leaving Crystal Palace when his short term contract expired.
It’s fair say to striker didn’t exactly shine at Palace, but he’s told French newspaper L’Equipe that it was hard to adjust after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, because the levels were different.
“He (Lyon manager Bruno Genesio) even asked me why it did not work at Crystal Palace, I explained that I had always played for teams that were aimed at the English or European title. This is the first time I was in a team that was intended to stay up and the game is not suited me.”
Prior to Crystal Palace, Adebayor had been at Tottenham since 2011, initially on loan. The Togo international has also played for Real Madrid, Arsenal and AS Monaco.
