Nottingham Forest’s Jota Silva has revealed his desire to work again with Rui Borges.
Record have published an interview with the 25-year-old where a section has been dedicated to his former manager.
The winger joined Nottingham Forest from Vitória de Guimarães last August and made 28 appearances for the Reds so far.
Jota Silva worked with Borges at the Portuguese club before his move to Nottingham Forest. Last December, the manager left Vitória de Guimarães to take the Sporting job.
The Portugal international trained under Borges for a short period of time last summer. The pair were able to bond quickly and have maintained contacts since leaving Vitória de Guimarães. This has been revealed by the Nottingham Forest player.
“Yes, we have already talked and kept in touch, especially with Tiago [Aguiar], the deputy. It was a technical committee that made an impression on me, even though it was a short time,” he said.
“We former a very good relationship, even after I went there, during the first international break and he was still at Vitória, we exchanged a lot of ideas and talked. I wish him the best of luck now at Sporting, he really deserves to be happy.”
“He is a coach of enormous quality, a person I respect a lot and who has helped me a lot in the short time he has worked with me. He was an incredible person to me; he will always be a coach that I appreciate and who will always have my support.”
It was no surprise to see the newspaper specifically ask Jota Silva whether he wants to play under Borges again. They even suggested a move to Sporting can help him represent a top Portuguese club.
The attacker has left the door open while insisting that he’s currently happy at the Premier League club.
“In football, we can’t say yes or no to anything. I think that in football, a lot can happen from one moment to the next. I’m focused here in England, at Nottingham and on being able to help,” Jota Silva explained.
“If I ever work with Borges again, it would be incredible because, as I’ve already said, I think he’s a great coach and he’s someone who means a lot to me. It would be good, yes. Now, when and if that will happen, I don’t know, you don’t know, and no one knows.”
“I wish him the best of luck with all the projects he has and if one day we meet, it will certainly be at the right time for me and for him. Now I’m focused here, on helping Nottingham achieve its goals and doing really beautiful things.”
