Hull City winger Mohamed Belloumi’s father insists his son should play for top clubs like Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.
The 24-year-old joined the Tigers from Portuguese side SC Farense in August 2024. The Premier League side had overcome competition from Leeds United for his signature.
In his debut season, Belloumi managed two goals and two assists from the first 10 matches. In November 2024, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury, forcing him to spend 208 days on the sidelines.
Last season, he picked up a hamstring injury in September before suffering a torn thigh muscle in December. These two setbacks kept him away from the pitch for 121 days, and he finished with three goals and from assists from 25 matches.
Belloumi has scored two goals and contributed two assists from six matches for Hull City this season. His performances helped him receive first call-up from Algeria for this international break.
Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid goal
Mohamed Belloumi’s father Lakhdar Belloumi has played for and managed Algeria, and has spoken to Win Win about the Hull City player.
The winger had reportedly received offers to leave Sergej Jakirović’s side in the summer window.
When asked about these reported bids, Lakhdar didn’t close the door on leaving Hull City. He also says his son deserves to be at a top club like Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid or PSG.
“All his focus right now is on Hull City. If we receive any major offer, we wouldn’t object to him leaving. With all due respect to Hull City, but at this level, he deserves to play for a bigger club competing for domestic and continental titles, such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille and Manchester City,” he said.
The likes of Manchester City, the La Liga and the Ligue 1 sides will certainly consider his injury history. If he avoids setbacks and impresses for Hull City this season, the attacker may attract interest from top clubs.

Hull City player unbothered by criticism
Mohamed Belloumi moved to Europe when Farens signed him in 2022. His decision to leave Algeria has paid off, as he’s now close to representing his country.
Lakhdar Belloumi opened up on his earlier struggles and about the national team call-up after a good start with Hull City.
“Mohamed dreamed of turning pro, and his goal was to play in Europe. So, I told him, ‘Do whatever you want’. We took the criticism he faced during his time in Algeria in stride, as if it were meaningless,” Lakhdar explained.
“My son has always strived to achieve his dream, and I think what he’s accomplished now is the best response to all those who criticised him, claiming he was playing solely because of his name.”
“He always tells me, ‘I’ve fulfilled your dream of turning pro, playing abroad, and competing at the highest level’. This is just the beginning, God willing, he’ll continue.”
