Brøndby IF’s Clement Bischoff has expressed his disappointment over a failed transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion.
On Thursday, the 19-year-old told Danish reporters about what he went through after the move to Brighton collapsed. Tipsbladet have relayed his comments.
Earlier this month, we covered claims from Denmark that Brighton reached an agreement with Brøndby for Bischoff to arrive at The Amex in the summer.
On February 6th, Tipsbladet stated the left-back had travelled to England to carry out medical tests with the Seagulls.
Four days later, the same outlet reported his move to the Premier League club collapsed due to a last-minute disagreement between the two parties.
On his failed move to Brighton, he said: “I can’t say much other than that it didn’t happen and that I’ve moved on. But it was a hard few days and something I thought about a lot. Now I’m looking forward to playing again and progressing.”
The player was asked whether he has put this chapter behind him. When responding to that, he talked about his desire to secure a move abroad.
“Yes, I think so. I have a plan and I’m working every day to make this move abroad. This was a really good opportunity for me, but it is what it is. If I keep doing it right, I know the opportunity will come again,” Bischoff explained.
“Yes, at the moment I’m disappointed, and in the first days it was tough. But you don’t get anything out of burying yourself.”
The youngster has refused to go into the details on why the operation didn’t go through.
“It’s hard for me to say, because I can’t get into the details. There are a lot of things in these pre-agreements. They are a bit more complicated, and the parties couldn’t agree in the end. That’s how it is,” he added.
Bischoff is still keen on a transfer but is unlikely to join Brighton in the future. Last week, BT in Denmark reported the two parties have no intention of resuming transfer talks.
At this moment in time, he’s not ruling out extending his contract at Brøndby beyond June 2026.
“We [sporting director Benjamin Schmedes and his camp] have agreed that we’re calm, but it’s something to talk about,” the teenager said.
“I felt this was the right thing for me because there was a good plan and Brighton are good with young players, but it’s definitely an option to extend or move in the summer. I’m not closing any options, but it’s something we need to think about.”
