Aston Villa are ‘closing on’ a deal for youngster Tidiam Gomis to join them this month, with an agreement now being finalised with Caen.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Gomis will remain with the French club until the end of the season.
According to his information, Aston Villa are closing in on the winger, who currently plays for Caen in Ligue 2. A report earlier this week indicated that they had entered negotiations for the 19-year-old.
That explained that Aston Villa’s management were keen to take advantage of the French youth market and Gomis was one of the players they had their eye on.
Tavolieri now reports that they are ‘closing’ on the player, who will sign a five-year deal at Villa Park. He will, however, remain at the Stade Malherbe de Caen until the end of the season.
The journalist makes no mention of the transfer fee Aston Villa will pay for Gomis, although it is likely to be low given his current deal with the French side ends in June 2025.
He will be the latest youngster to make the move to Villa since Unai Emery’s arrival, with he and Monchi seemingly determined to scoop up talent and plan for the future. For now, his focus will be on seeing out the remainder of the season in Ligue 2, where it seems Aston Villa are happy to leave him for the time being.
