Bournemouth were offering striker Enes Unal to various clubs before Evanilson’s injury put an end to a potential exit.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Sevilla have had to abandon plans to try and sign the striker this month.
We covered a report yesterday regarding Unal, who it appears will be given his chance to shine at Bournemouth in the second half of this season after Evanilson fractured his metatarsal.
That had been a major blow to Getafe, who had been harbouring hopes of signing the Turkish forward this month. Estadio now say Sevilla were in the same boat.
According to them director of football Victor Orta had Unal at the top of his list before focusing on Brazilian striker Juninho Vieira. He, though, has went back on his word and is going to Flamengo and so Unal would have been the man Orta turned to instead.
He knew he was available as he was being ‘offered by Bournemouth’ to numerous clubs in Europe’s top five leagues as he wasn’t featuring under Andoni Iraola this season.
Sevilla encountered problems trying to secure a loan with an option to buy and convincing the striker, who would have preferred to return to Getafe if given the choice. That is why Orta then pushed for Juninho.
Now he’s missed out entirely as Evanilson’s fractured metatarsal means an extended spell on the sidelines and a Bournemouth closing the door on Unal’s departure.
