Earlier this year, Manchester United completed the signing of Sékou Koné from Malian club Guidars FC.
The Premier League side are set to return to the African nation to sign Djoliba AC’s Daba Diakite.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who state Manchester United are keen on signing the 20-year-old.
The Red Devils have started the process to acquire the midfielder’s signature and Africa Foot say they have gathered this information from a source close to the player.
He made five appearances in the African Nations Championship this season and several clubs have taken notice of his performances. Manchester United are the only club named and are said to be keen on securing his services.
Manchester United have ‘started negotiations’ with Djoliba and are waiting for the latter’s approval to ‘make a formal offer’. The report states Diakite has three months left on his deal and there’s no mention of the fee Ruben Amorim’s side could offer for him.
Africa Foot say Diakite is ‘getting closer’ to making a big jump and could join Koné at the English club. This indicates Manchester United would make progress to get this deal over the line.
