In the summer window, we covered several claims about Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in Inter Miami’s Diego Gómez.
Back in August, AS reported Brighton are close to signing the 21-year-old, but the deal hasn’t been completed so far.
Fast forward to December and Versus in Paraguay provides the latest on the midfielder’s move to Brighton.
It’s claimed the deal between the two clubs was closed long ago, but there was no official communication.
That could change soon because the Paraguay international and his agent, Renato Bittar, are already travelling to England to ‘officially close the transfer’ to Brighton.
This claim is further backed up by El Nacional, who share additional information about Gómez’s impending move to the Premier League side.
Journalist Wilson González Bronce has shared a picture of the player at Asunción’s Silvio Pettirossi International Airport on Monday. He left his country to England to carry out the transfer formalities to join the Seagulls.
According to El Nacional, the South American is set to sign a contract until 2029 with the English club.
They also point out there’s been talks about Fabian Hürzeler’s side paying $14m [£11m] to Inter Miami for Gómez.
