Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares has been out on loan at since the start of the 2022/23 season.

The left-back joined Lazio in the summer window and has impressed for them this season, manging five assists from five league games.

TuttoMercatoWeb ask whether Atalanta and Inter Milan regret not signing the Arsenal man in the past.

It’s claimed the 24-year-old came ‘close’ to joining La Dea and the Serie A winners.

The Portuguese defender moved to Marseille on a loan deal in July 2022. Prior to that, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side showed keen interest in him. The Gunners wanted a dry loan deal, while Atalanta were looking for a buying option as part of the deal.

TMW state Mikel Arteta’s side requested €35m, and this was ‘out of the budget’ for any Serie A sides. Therefore, the Europa League winners failed to sign him, and he ended up at Marseille.

Inter tried to sign Tavares in the summer of 2023, but the fee requested by Arsenal was ‘out of line’. There’s no mention of the English club’s request, and the Nerazzurri ended up signing Carlos Augusto.

Lazio are now capitalising on both Atalanta and Inter refusing to bet on Tavares.
