Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yasin Ayari was out on loan at Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers last season.

The Sweden international could have been loaned out again in the summer. This option was ruled out after he convinced Brighton during pre-season.

This has now been revealed by the Brighton player himself and his comments are relayed by Sportbladet.

The midfielder is currently with the national team camp, which allowed the Swedish media to interact with him. They asked the 20-year-old when the Seagulls gave him signals that he would stay at The Amex.

Responding to that, he said: “Already in pre-season. We had a conversation back then and I scored straight away at the pre-season camp in Japan and that left its mark. After that, it was just to continue. I do my best in training and matches.”

The youngster has featured four times for Brighton and made his first league start of the season in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal last weekend. He’s pleased to have won the trust of Fabian Hürzeler.

“It’s nice. The Premier League is the best league in the world. It’s nice that I got to jump in so early against Arsenal, he could have brought anyone in, but he put me in,” Ayari explained.

He arrived at The Amex from Swedish side AIK Fotboll in January 2023. Ayari didn’t have a prominent role under Roberto De Zerbi, before being sent out on loan. His situation has improved under the Italian’s successor.

Brighton have already collected seven points from three games under Hürzeler’s orders. The Swede is pleased with the work done by the new manager.

“He’s very good and young, as you all know. He’s nice. It’s a fresh start. With De Zerbi, we used to do maybe one-hour training sessions. Now it’s two-hour training sessions and it’s hard. German training, running a lot and great intensity,” the Swede added.

“It’s good. It’s good. I’m still young so it doesn’t take as much out of me as it does the older ones [laughs].”
