Swedish scout Pelle Andersson believes IFK Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist is ready for a move to a league like the Championship. The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent months.

Speaking to Kamraterna, Andersson was asked who were the hottest talents at Norrkoping that look destined for a move abroad.

The Swede thinks Wahlqvist is the now ready to leave the club, and a move in the next window should be considered. Andersson doesn’t believe the youngster is ready for one of the major European leagues, but a move to a good club in the English Championship or the Eredivisie should be his aim.

“It’s a little hard to say, but someone like Linus could definitely move in the summer. It’s time for him now. Linus had big clubs after him – initially talked about the Bundesliga. Now I think that level is a bit too high for him. A good club in the Championship or in Holland, I think would be good,” said Andersson on the Leeds United target.

Leeds United have already tried to sign the right back, making an approach for Wahlqvist last summer. Throughout this season Leeds United have continued to be linked with the youngster in the Swedish media, and it’s expected they’ll again show interest in the next window.

Despite Garry Monk’s side not getting promotion to the Premier League, there’s still some hope as the Swede has in the past stated he’d be interested in playing in the Championship. This week there were reports in Sweden Norrkoping already have a replacement for the Sweden international ahead of a possible transfer this summer.
