On Tuesday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Arsenal should soon reach a ‘definitive’ agreement with Bologna over signing Riccardo Calafiori.

It was also stated the Serie A side are trying to agree a deal with the defender’s former club, FC Basel, likely to reduce the percentage of a future sale. This was the last detail pending for the player to seal a move to the Emirates.

Journalist Rudy Galetti took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a positive update on the deal to take the 22-year-old to Arsenal.

He claims the Italy international is ‘set to join’ the Gunners. There were a few hurdles in the operation last week, but the journalist now states ‘all aspects have been resolved’.

Galetti doesn’t specify it, but his update would clearly indicate that the Italian club have a deal in place with Mikel Arteta’s side over transfer fee and they have an agreement with Basel on percentage of the sell-on clause.

Arsenal are paying a fee slightly over €50m including bonuses for the centre-back. He has already agreed a five-year deal with the Premier League side, worth €4m per year.

The journalist adds Calafiori’s ‘medical is expected soon’, which gives an indication his move to the north London club should be finalised in a short time.
