Wilfred Ndidi is still deciding whether to accept an offer from Leicester City to renew his deal at the club, as he’s waiting to see if anything better comes along.
That’s according to Sport, who say Barcelona could still be an option for the midfielder if he doesn’t renew his contract with Leicester.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of this month and so far, hasn’t agreed to an extension to his deal with the Foxes.
Reports in England made it clear earlier this week that a new deal had been offered but he is yet to sign it, and that could be because he’s waiting to see what other offers may be on the table.
Ndidi was offered to them months ago and director of football Deco likes the Leicester midfielder because of the physical element he could add to Barcelona’s midfield.
He’s also played at a high level in the Premier League before and was a key player in their return to the Premier League this season.
He’d be attracted to a move to a club like Barcelona but knows he must wait for them to make their move at the end of June. It is that which may see him holding off agreeing to anything new with Leicester for the time being.
Sport certainly believe he is doing that, insisting an important renewal offer is on the table from Leicester but he hasn’t responded to it yet.
They say he’d like to focus on international duty with Nigeria for now and then work something out before the summer holidays, perhaps delaying in the hope of Barcelona stepping forward.
