While Arne Slot waits to take charge of Liverpool this summer, we today get to see a nice a story about the future Reds’ boss, and a player with a brilliant attitude
The story is told by Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who was interviewed by Ziggo Sport and has his quotes brought by FR-Fans.
The centre-forward recalled that he didn’t have time off last summer, as he’d been playing the Gold Cup with Mexico.
That was Gimenez’s decision, though, because Slot had offered him some time to rest at the end of the season. The striker, who wanted to play as much as possible for Feyenoord, ended up declining.
“I’m a player who doesn’t want to lose. I want to play everything. I remember last season, Arne Slot said two weeks before the end of the season that I could go on holiday because otherwise I wouldn’t have a holiday. I said no, I want to play. That was my mistake. I feel really tired, but I like to play.”
That’s surely a nice attitude from the future Liverpool boss, and that also shows the good relationship he has with Gimenez.
The striker is having a great season at Feyenoord, with 26 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances so far, and has been very much linked to a Premier League move lately.
With Liverpool possibly going after a new centre-forward this summer, perhaps the Mexican striker would be an interesting target, with Slot helping them with that.
