Southampton midfielder Charly Alcaraz has been given a 50% chance of remaining at Juventus next season, with the Italian side hoping the Saints miss promotion to make things easier.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say that Juventus are undecided on the midfielder since his arrival on loan in January.
Alcaraz joined them Italian giants on loan in January in a deal that includes a €49.5m clause to make it permanent but he’s barely made an impact since his arrival, with injuries playing their part.
They say the €49.5m is a ‘robust sum’ that Juventus are not expected to pay, and the actual plan is to try and renew his loan from Southampton with a different price included.
Alcaraz likes Juventus and wants to stay, and they wouldn’t mind keeping him, but not at the figures which have been set out.
Juventus’ hope is that Southampton miss out on a return to the Premier League as their belief is that could make them reconsider their position and accept the idea of a new loan move.
At the minute, though, that hasn’t happened and Alcaraz has a 50% chance at best of remaining in Turin next season.
