Barcelona are at that stage of the season where their big transfer dreams for the summer start to slip away and whoever is in charge of recruitment begins to look for bargains.
Deco is again the lucky man involved and after trying to edge multiple players towards the exit door, to raise funds, and have them flatly refuse to go, he’s having to reevaluate things.
That’s seen him turn his eyes towards Arsenal, reports Tuesday’s edition of Sport.
Specifically, they’re looking at Jorginho and he’s presented as a free transfer option. Deco is said to know the Arsenal midfielder well, and it’s claimed Mikel Arteta’s player ‘would be delighted’ to join Barcelona.
The Catalan newspaper’s article doesn’t mention that there’s an option for a further year on Jorginho’s contract, which could completely ruin their plans regarding the player.
Similar has happened previously when there’s been a belief they could sign players for free, often from Premier League clubs, only to find out there’s an option for a further year on the club’s side.
Nevertheless, there’ll be excitement over this latest plan, and the Arsenal midfielder, until someone kills it.
Right now, Barcelona are clinging to any transfer hope they can get.
