Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Manchester City full-back Yan Couto as he continues to shine at Girona.
That’s according to journalist José Félix Díaz, who has explained what the thoughts are at the Santiago Bernabeu in regard to the full-back.
Couto is currently spending the season on loan at Girona from Manchester City in a special deal between the City Group owned football clubs.
It’s proven to be a smart move for the 21-year-old who, despite only featuring in 66% of the available minutes in the league, has racked up seven assists and one goal in 20 games to date.
Those numbers have led to plenty of attention and, almost inevitably, links to Real Madrid, who are never too far from the picture when a player starts to impress in Spain.
Indeed, a report earlier this week indicated that they were keeping a close eye on the defender as they consider a future without Dani Carvajal.
Díaz continues that today, explaining that the player’s contract situation at Manchester City has tempted Real Madrid into looking at the player, explaining how Couto would fit in at the Spanish giants.
“At the moment they are seeing that he is a player who is evolving in a brutal way, and that his contractual situation is favorable to try him out,” he said.
“He has a contract until 2025 with Manchester City. It seems that there has been an attempt to renew. I like him at Real Madrid.
“I see a generational change there with Carvajal due to the age difference. He is evolving positively, perhaps more as a winger than as a winger. But he has already been called up by Brazil.
“At Real Madrid they have to see what happens with Lucas Vázquez and his contractual situation, and a plane is also coming from the reserve team, which is Jesús Fortea.”
