Certain to makes changes in his Manchester United defence in the near future, Erik ten Hag appears to have set his sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou.
This is according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal that the Red Devils are taking an interest in the 23-year-old.
He immediately makes it clear the centre-back is ‘not a top target’, but Manchester United are ‘monitoring him’.
The Ivory Coast international has been a regular in Xabi Alonso’s very successful Bundesliga squad throughout the first half of the campaign, making 15 appearances in the league, scoring one goal.
He is now on Manchester United’s ‘extended list’, likely meaning that he is on a board somewhere for scouts to monitor throughout the second half of the campaign before a move can be considered potentially in the summer.
Manchester United are likely to lose Raphaël Varane in the near future, and there is a belief that Ten Hag wants more help at the back, and the 23-year-old will certainly fit the kind of player the new INEOS system will be after.
