In the past few weeks, reports from around Europe claimed that Manchester United are interested in Djurgårdens IF midfielder Lucas Bergvall.
Several European sides are said to be watching the 17-year-old talent, and the Red Devils are named among the main contenders in thar race.
Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt today features an interview with Djurgårdens IF director Bo Andersson, who admitted that Bergvall may leave the club in January.
Without mentioning Manchester United, the club boss made it clear that there’s a race for the player.
“I do not want to say too much right now out of respect for the clubs involved. No, I do not deny it, but at the moment it is best to wait and see considering how quickly everything is developing right now.”
“No, it is no longer that. It’s clear that it can happen considering which clubs you see it is about but also what sums can be relevant.
“There are a lot of clubs at a level that we have never had any contact with before Lucas Bergvall.”
Andersson was also asked whether the interested clubs are from the European ‘elite’, and he confirmed that.
“Yes, that is the case. There is so much going on right now that it cannot be compared to anything else that I and we have been involved in.”
Back in April, local reports had already claimed that Manchester United sent scouts to watch the Swedish player in action. Now in the past few weeks, there have been more stories about the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan being interested in the midfielder, along with the Red Devils.
