Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has hit back at journalists asking him about Carlo Ancelotti potentially joining Brazil, insisting such questions show a ‘lack of respect’.
That’s according to AS, who cover comments from the Brazilian midfielder today after he was asked about the Italian coach once again.
Ancelotti has long been linked with the Brazilian job, which has been vacant since Tite departed back in December following their failure at the World Cup in Qatar.
The belief has long been that the Real Madrid coach is the number one target for the Brazilian FA and numerous reports over the last nine months have indicated that talks have taken place and Ancelotti would be keen on taking up the job.
That has not stopped speculation and consistent questions on the matter, with Manchester United’s Casemiro the latest to face them during this international break.
He knows Ancelotti well of course, having worked with him in both of the manager’s spells at Real Madrid before he joined Manchester United last summer.
The 31-year-old was in no mood for such questions, though, insisting it is wrong to discuss a manager who has a contract elsewhere.
“Ancelotti is a great coach, but he has a contract with Real Madrid, and it is disrespectful to talk about Ancelotti within the national team,” he said.
“Diniz has a way of playing, but the base and concept of football is joy on the pitch. Movement is one of Diniz’s characteristics, he already made it clear, and the great virtue of great players is to adapt to the coach, to the team, and if that’s what it’s for on the field I’m available.
“After so long, coming back here is really great. The people running behind the bus when we came to train, the people in front of the hotel. It is people like these who inspire us to be in the national team.”
