It appears that VfB Stuttgart are pulling out all the stops to try and convince Alexander Nübel to snub a move to Leeds United.
We’ve already covered claims from Sky Germany that a secret meeting took place on Thursday evening between the German side’s top personnel and the player to hold some talks, and Sport Bild bring a bit more information.
They claim that one of the arguments used by Stuttgart to try and get Nübel to ignore Leeds is that their stadium is being refurbished and is bigger than Elland Road.
They then explain that, by comparison, Elland Road ‘only holds 37,000 spectators’.
Now, we don’t know whether that worked on the player, but the German outlet does say that Nübel ‘has not yet made a final decision’, but wants to have more ‘clarity about his future by Sunday’.
Right now, the money is ‘clearly in favour’ of Leeds, while the prospect of being the undisputed number one would work is what puts Stuttgart ahead.
As for the Whites, they would like to sign the Bayern Munich man ‘permanently for €10m’, while the Bundesliga club only want him on loan for the time being.
