Stuttgart manager Hannes Wolf has told the German media he needs to make ‘crass decisions’ due to the strength of his squad. Attacking midfielder Alexandru Maxim has suffered this season with Wolf’s selections, and subsequently has been linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer.
Despite being one of the highest earners at Stuttgart the Romania international has struggled to get games in this campaign, and in recent weeks hasn’t even made the match day squad.
Wolf has been quizzed by Kicker on why players like Maxim have found themselves out of the team this season. Wolf said making these decisions are part of being a manager and at the moment he has many quality players to choose from.
“We have a lot of good options and strength,” said the Stuttgart boss.
In January Leeds United held initial talks with Maxim’s agent over a potential move. The agent later confirmed talks, but at the time said he only expected his client to move in the summer. Leeds United boss Garry Monk had previously tried to sign the player when he was Swansea City manager.
