Fatigue after a long run in Qatar, as well as excelling in the first half of the campaign, was deemed to be the reason behind it, which eventually led to an injury.
It seemed innocuous at first, with the West Ham loanee missing the recent 2-2 draw against Cremonese, but it could be a bit worse.
That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed by Sport Italia, who report that Torino ‘remain concerned’ about the Croatia international’s condition, as the ‘muscular problem in the right rectus femoris’ has put a stop to his time on the pitch.
That would mean him first missing the Turin derby against Juventus, and potentially also sit out the clashes against Bologna, Lecce and Napoli.
Therefore, ‘developments are awaited’ regarding the West Ham man’s status, but both the Hammers, who will want Torino to make the move permanent, and the Serie A side will likely be hoping for it to be nothing serious.
