Watford scouts among ‘dozens of representatives’ at upcoming tournament – Two players of particular interest

Watford will have scouts in Brazil this week to watch Fluminense as they eye up several of the youngsters in their squad.

That’s according to NetFlu, who say Watford will be sending scouts to watch the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.

The website explains that ‘dozens of representatives’ from European clubs are set to follow the tournament ‘closely’ and they have been able to discover that some of the scouts will be from Watford.

Midfielder Arthur and striker João Neto are two of the ‘main names’ that will be ‘monitored’ by the clubs in attendance.

The scouting of these players is a common thing but has been intensified by large and even intermediate European clubs as of late.

The goal for these clubs is to hire the youngsters at the end of the training process so that they don’t arrive ‘too Brazilian’.

What that means isn’t exactly clear by the website states that the clubs want these players ‘without the natural vices’ of very young athletes so it is very much up for interpretation.

Either way, Watford will have scouts in attendance for the tournament, which is also not that surprising as they are an ‘old client’ at Fluminense.

Richarlison was signed from the club in 2017 and followed by João Pedro in 2018 and then Matheus Martins this summer.

They know the club well, then, and are seemingly eyeing up the latest batch of talent when they start their tournament on January 3^rd.
