Even though Manchester United loanee Alex Telles has been getting plenty of playing time at Sevilla this season, the club’s situation may not be what he expected.
Despite coming from a campaign where they finished 4th in La Liga, they now stand in the 16th in the table. Things haven’t been great in the Champions League either, as they’re currently 3rd and very unlikely to have a place in the knockout stage.
Telles held today a press conference, and speaking of the arrival of Jorge Sampaoli, he hopes the new manager can put the team back on track to have a more satisfying season from now on.
Asked about his switch to the Spanish club and what he’s experienced since, he’s quoted by Estadio Deportivo as saying: “A player doesn’t want to be like this and even more so in a club like Sevilla.
Telles was loaned by Manchester United this summer because of Tyrell Malacia’s arrival from Feyenoord, with the Red Devils spending €15m to sign the Dutchman.
Erik ten Hag, however, seems to continue having doubts about who should start in the left-back position, as Luke Shaw has been making it to the team sheet, with 13 appearances this season.
Telles returns to Manchester United next summer, and has a contract with the club until 2024.
