Dynamo Moscow have confirmed they received a bid from Chelsea for Arsen Zakharyan but could not do a deal with the Blues.
Zakharyan was named as a potential target for Chelsea earlier late last month, with the Blues continuing their efforts to strengthen Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Reports in Italy stated that they had made an official offer for the player and were trying to get a deal over the line.
That was later denied by his agent, who, in an interview in the English press, stated that a deal was impossible at this moment in time.
Dynamo have now confirmed as much, with a tweet on their official channel stating that they ‘received a transfer offer’ from Chelsea on the 25th of August.
However, due to a ‘number of technical reasons’ beyond their control, a transfer was deemed ‘impossible’ in this transfer window.
Therefore, it was decided that Zakharyan will continue to play for Dynamo for the time being.
The Russian side make no mention of the nature of those technical reasons, but it is likely to do with the sanctions the British government have put in place following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Perhaps they will open the door for Chelsea in future, and that is very much implied, but for now a transfer will not be happening.
