German journalist Patrick Berger today shares a couple of updates on Newcastle United’s search for reinforcements in the Bundesliga.
According to the reporter, the Magpies have a ‘top target’ at Bayer Leverkusen, which is Moussa Diaby.
Berger claims Newcastle are willing to pay between €35m and €40m for the winger, even though the German side actually demand ‘way more’ than €60m.
In more bad news for the Magpies, it’s stated that despite being ‘open for a move’, Diaby actually has ‘no intention’ of moving to St. James’ Park, as he’s wanted by other clubs such as Paris Saint Germain.
Berger claims Newcastle have another target in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund’s Thorgan Hazard.
However, the winger is only said to be a ‘plan b’ for the Magpies, with ‘no concrete offer’ made so far. He adds that the German side would accept selling the player for around €15m.
Newcastle’s interest in Hazard had already been reported by Bild earlier this week. The outlet had the same information around the price tag, and claimed that his salary of €7m a year would be ‘peanuts’ for the Premier League side.
But for now, it seems the Magpies have other priorities, such as Diaby.
