Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva is wanted by Serie A giants Inter, according to reports in Italy.

La Repubblica report Lucas could become the first signing of new Inter Milan coach Stefan Pioli, and Liverpool have given a green light to the transfer.

It’s been reported the final details of the deal remain to be completely sorted out, but the long serving Liverpool midfielder will sign for Inter Milan on loan, without any mandatory purchase option.

The 29-year-old has six months left on his contract at Liverpool, and clubs will be able to sign him on a free in the summer, so the purchase option wouldn’t make sense.

La Repubblica claims Lucas’ agent Kia Joorabchian has already given his nod to the transfer, and an agreement could be reached in the coming days.

Jurgen Klopp could allow Lucas to leave in January with Ragnar Klavan slowly settling at the club, and Joe Gomez returning from injury. Klopp would have to sanction the deal, but La Repubblica believe that’s already the case.
