It’s not even been a month since Antonio Conte took over at Tottenham, quickly following the exit of Nuno Espirito Santo, but it feels like he’s now got his legs well and truly under the desk and is at work implementing his vision for the club.
Having an international break during that time will have helped the manager, giving him time to take stock and prepare a plan forward, whilst many of his top players were away with their national teams.
The break has brought positives, with Harry Kane plundering goals, if against opposition which wasn’t the toughest. There’s also the inevitable injury worries, and Cristian Romero will likely be the chief one among those, having picked up a muscle injury whilst away with Argentina.
Gabriele Ambrosetti, a former Italian footballer and coach, and now an occasional pundit, thinks it’s a perfect situation for the manager, giving him longer to implement his vision.
He strongly feels Tottenham is a great opportunity for Conte, and told TMW why: “This choice was a great sign of intelligence because he has the possibility to build without having to win the championship immediately, and in this he has proven over the years that he is number one.”
Tottenham fans will be hoping Ambrosetti is correct… a challenge for any top trophy would be welcome.
