On August 19th, La Lazio Siamo Noi explained Joaquín Correa is ‘taking his time’ to make a decision over joining Everton.

The Merseyside club ‘want’ the Lazio player and are ‘pressing’ to acquire his services, as per another report from La Lazio Siamo Noi.

It’s said the Toffees have ‘put on the plate an important proposal’ that includes a €32m fixed fee and €4m in bonuses, which are not easy to achieve.

Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito wants Everton to make an extra effort to help the Serie A side ‘achieve the bonuses’, and with that being said, the two clubs sides are ‘not far from an agreement’.

The ‘biggest stumbling block’, however, is to convince the forward, as his desire is to play for a ‘top club’ that aspires to achieve ‘important goals’.

Inter Milan are named, but they haven’t managed to meet Lazio’s demands and are now working to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, who will cost less than Correa.

Rafael Benítez’s side ‘hope to convince’ the Argentina international with a ‘rich contract proposal’, so much so that they have reportedly tabled a contract offer that includes a salary of £4.8m per season.

La Lazio Siamo Noi explain ‘these are important hours to define the future’ of the South American. Everton ‘tries’, but Correa ‘must be convinced’ for them to have any chance to sign him.

Quite where Everton are suddenly finding €30m+ from isn’t clear, and unless this is a loan with a mandatory buying clause, with the full transfer delayed until next summer, that could be a struggle.
