Rangers have no interest in bringing David Bates back to the club this summer, despite Hamburger SV ‘planning without’ him moving forward.
That’s according to Fussball Nachrichten, who, in an exclusive on their website today, state that Steven Gerrard’s side have made it clear they are not interested in bringing the defender back to Ibrox.
Bates spent two years at Rangers earlier in his career, initially joining their Under 20 side from Raith Rovers in 2015.
He was loaned backed to the latter before returning to Ibrox in 2017 and spending a year in the first team, making 28 appearances in total.
He’s been linked with a move away again this summer, but according to Fussball Nachrichten, he is ‘not on the agenda’ at Rangers.
Despite rumours suggesting it could be on the cards, that is not the case, and the Scottish champions are ‘not signalling any interest’ in rekindling their relationship with Bates.
Bates’ management are ‘eagerly’ sounding out the market to search for suitors, but nothing concrete has appeared so far, and no other club has shown an interest in him.
Certainly not from Rangers, who like HSV, aren’t interested in having Bates in their squad.
