Over the weekend, we covered claims made in Spain that Chelsea are ‘very interested’ in signing Sevilla star Jules Koundé.
Manchester City came forward to take the defender last summer, but the La Liga side turned down the €55m bid tabled by the Citizens.
Despite emphasising his willingness to continue at the club, the 22-year-old has now given his take on a potential transfer in the upcoming window.
“It’s hard, I have a lot of ambition and good… I have to measure what’s best for me, there’s still a few months left and we’ll see what happens. I feel good also here and staying in Seville will not be a bad choice either,” he told Mucho Deporte.
La Razón have relayed these quotes and have given their take on the Koundé case.
It’s claimed the Blues and Real Madrid would like to take the Frenchman in the next market. Los Blancos could consider making an effort for him, if one of Sergio Ramos and Raphaël Varane decide to leave in the summer.
Chelsea have no such conditions and according to the report, Thomas Tuchel’s side are the ‘best positioned team’ to acquire the player’s services.
Koundé’s current deal runs down in 2024 and the report adds it’s ‘not ruled out’ for Julen Lopetegui’s side to ‘facilitate’ the defender’s departure in the summer, if there is an offer of around €70m.
La Razón explain Chelsea will look to lower the price tag by including some of their own players as part of the operation. Whether or not it will be accepted by Sevilla remains to be seen.
