Now that Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all pulled out of the Super League plans and made the whole thing collapse, there is some backlash coming from Spain.

The fact that Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola spoke out against the competition helped, as did the efforts of Jordan Henderson and his teammates, but since the whole coup was spearheaded by Florentino Pérez, El Chiringuito aren’t happy.

Following the announcement they would back out, Arsenal apologised in text, John W. Henry recorded himself next to a plant on behalf of Liverpool, Ed Woodward resigned from his role at Manchester United and Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham all released statements with their meek reasons for joining up in the first place.

There was one common theme in all of these, however, and that was each and every one of them explained they’d heard the fans’ voices and that was the main reason why they’d backed out.

Some members of the Spanish media aren’t having any of it, however, with El Chiringuito attacking the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea and their their rich owners, and now they’re having a go at the pair, alongside Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool, for bailing in exchange of money.

The claims were originally made by Mundo Deportivo, who reported UEFA offered the teams some sort of financial compensation to leave the Super League project.

We’ll have to wait and see if that’s true, but José Alvarez, on the show’s Twitch stream on Wednesday is adamant that’s the case.

He said: “The English clubs didn’t leave the Super League because of the fans, they did it for money.”

It’s all getting very petty now, it seems, with other claiming the Premier League six were ‘cowards’, while others took shots at the likes of Arsenal for basically being nobodies and only being famous for having a long-serving manager in Wenger.

Oh, and for losing to Barcelona in a Champions League final.
