Agent reveals transfer talks have taken place – Player ‘favours’ Manchester City move

It doesn’t matter who you support, there is no way you can avoid the Erling Haaland saga that is unfolding ahead of the summer.

The Norway international is smashing record after record at Borussia Dortmund, yet there are very few clubs who can afford him going into the summer.

Manchester City have been touted as a potential destination for the striker, although Pep Guardiola, despite admiring the striker’s talent, made it clear a move would be difficult considering the price asked and the current Covid-19 financial crisis.

That hasn’t stopped Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, from playing a few games, which continued on Monday when speaking to Sport1.

He revealed he had met with Borussia Dortmund regarding his client’s future, and said: “I can confirm that I was in Dortmund for talks. Michael Zorc made it clear to us that BVB don’t want to sell Erling this summer. I respect that opinion, but that doesn’t automatically mean that I also agree with it. BVB were very clear in their views. We are okay with that”.

This sounds very much like Raiola had perhaps planned to move his client in the summer, but with little leverage, since the release clause in the forward’s contract doesn’t become active until next summer, and many clubs struggling for huge funds, he might have to wait.

Furthermore, Sport1 also add at the bottom of their article that according to their information, Haaland ‘favours’ Real Madrid and Manchester City, even if they make it clear a departure this summer is ‘unlikely’.
