AS have featured an interview with Manchester City fullback Pedro Porro, who’s currently having a loan spell at Portuguese side Sporting.
The 21-year-old had a long chat about the ‘great time’ he’s having at the Lisbon side, and made some comments regarding his situation with the Premier League club.
Manchester City spent €12m to sign Porro from Granada in 2019. Instead of using him, they loaned to Real Valladolid right away.
“That City bought me impressed me, it’s a great club. But I take it as that they wanted to see me evolve,” Pedro Porro told AS.
Then last summer, instead of finally giving him a chance in England, they decided to loan him out to Sporting, this time on a two-year deal and letting the Lisbon side have a buying option.
Now with the good season he’s having in Portugal, it’s very likely the Lions will work to keep him.
On Sporting’s wish to make his transfer permanent and having him for the Champions League next season, Porro claims he doesn’t make any plans about his future.
“Play the next game. I look no further. I’m a boy who doesn’t like to look to the future, because if it doesn’t go well, I look bad. If things come later, then welcome.”
He also claimed he’s in constant touch with the Premier League side, who are aware of his success at Sporting.
“Yes, they have one person who takes care of all the loan players. He calls me and asks me how I’m feeling. They’re aware and I also like that, because you know that you have their support. I hope they’re happy.”
