Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino has revealed the toughest opponent he came up against in his career was Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts. The 54-year-old spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge in the early 1990s.
Cascarino said Roberts had the build of a pit bull, and remembers one challenge he received off the former England international during a game at Stamford Bridge. Cascarino also revealed he struggled to get the better of Arsenal defenderAndy Linighan when they faced each other.
“Graham Roberts at Tottenham. He was built like a pit bull and nailed me once at Stamford Bridge. A funny one I always struggled against was Arsenal’s Andy Linighan. I hardly ever got a kick playing against him,” said the former Chelsea player.
Roberts spent six seasons at Tottenham Hotspur during a period of success for the North London side. The 57-year-old won the FA Cup twice in his time at White Hart Lane, and was part of the team which landed the UEFA Cup in 1984.
