After a busy summer transfer window, there was plenty of expectation around Everton this year.

The Blues were hopeful, after a strong end to last season, they could push up the table this year and hopefully break into the top six.

However, despite being handed a favourable start to the season, they have struggled, winning just four out of their 12 games to date and sitting 15th in the table.

That’s seen the pressure steadily increase on manager Marco Silva, with some believing the Portuguese manager is not the one to lead them moving forward.

There have been several months of rumours about who could replace Silva at Goodison Park and the latest name to add to the list of Bruno Génésio, according to L’Equipe.

The former Lyon manager is currently in charge at BJ Sinobo Guoan, having joined the club after leaving Lyon in the summer.

His contract expires at the end of this calendar year, and it’s unknown whether he will be staying at the club beyond that.

If not, the hunt for a new club will be on his agenda and, according to the newspaper, his name ‘has returned to Everton’.

That suggests he is not only on their shortlist but a manager they have considered in the past and decided to keep on their list of potential candidates moving forward.

A move seems unlikely at this point, with Everton seemingly backing Marco Silva at this moment in time, but if he is available on a free in the near future and things don’t improve for the current Blues boss, it could end up making plenty of sense.
