The end of the European deadline is fast approaching, and there are still plenty of huge deals being talked about as a result.
Paul Pogba to Real Madrid is one of them. The Spanish giants have been chasing the Manchester United man all summer but are yet to match United’s €200m asking price.
Pogba has since started the season in relatively good form and is playing a pivotal role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, adding to speculation he will be staying at Old Trafford this season.
Marca cover the situation today and confirm what we already know; Zidane continues to dream about signing Pogba, the player is waiting for a ‘miracle’, but United’s asking price prohibits a move.
However, the newspaper says Mino Raiola continues to try and make the deal happen and has now made it clear to United that Pogba will not sign a new contract.
Those players ran down their contracts to the final year and forced Chelsea to choose between selling or losing them on a free transfer the following summer and Pogba will do the same to Manchester United.
The issue is, Marca either don’t know or have ignored the fact United have an option to extend Pogba’s current deal by another year to 2022 and means this plan Raiola has concocted for next summer is a dud from the start.
United have all the power at this point and with such little time left in the transfer window, it seems this mega move won’t be happening now, or next summer either.
