A big deal a month or so ago, Milan’s interest in Gerard Deulofeu calmed down over the past few weeks, especially when it looked like the club were completely out of the Champions League qualification race.
Back on track with two games to go, however, and talk of the Spaniard moving back to the club where he spent a season on loan during his Everton days has returned.
But, for Watford fans wanting to keep the 25-year-old around, it’s good news, as Calciomercato report that while Milan are still keeping an eye on the forward, they are far more reserved about making a move now than they were in January.
Part of that is the price the Pozzo family have slapped on Deulofeu, which is that negotiations will start at €40m, but also because Leonardo, the Serie A side’s director of football, believes ‘better profiles’ can be aimed for.
They still ‘like’ the Spain international and he remains ‘on their list’, but Calciomercato make it clear the Italian ‘aren’t willing to go crazy, especially without the Champions League’.
Milan are currently fifth in the league with two games to go, one point behind fourth placed Inter, who have a game in hand.
