Reportedly interested in Michy Batshuayi, who himself prefers a move to Monaco, Everton are said to have now made their first move for the Belgium international.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira, the Toffees ‘have offered Chelsea €30m’ for their striker, who spent the first half of the season at Valencia.
Unable to sort out another loan, having already signed Kurt Zouma on a temporary deal in the summer, any transfer for the striker between the two clubs will have to be permanent.
Reports have stated Batshuayi would be more inclined to teaming up with Thierry Henry in Monaco, but, if true, this bid suggests the Toffees believe they can convince the former Marseille man to change his mind.
This wouldn’t be the first time Everton look to capitalise on a promising striker being pushed to one side at Stamford Bridge, having done the same with Romelu Lukaku, who went onto blossom at Goodison Park before moving to Manchester United for just under £80m.
Having signed Batshuayi from Marseille for around €40m, it seems unlikely Chelsea will want to make a loss on the forward, who showed just last season during his Borussia Dortmund spell how lethal he can be in front of goal in the right set-up.
Since moving to England, the 25-year-old has scored 19 goals in 53 appearances for the Blues.
