Yesterday, we covered a story from Mexican newspaper La Afición asking the national team not to go after a ‘new’ Marcelo Bielsa.
Columnist José Ramón Fernández Guatiérrez de Quevedo had been complaining that teams who can’t sign the manager normally go after his apprentices, which is often a bad solution.
The reason for that story is a report made by Medio Tiempo this week, which claimed that Bielsa may help Mexico to find their new manager.
The outlet claims that Denis Te Kloese and Gerardo Torrado, who represented Mexico at FIFA’s The Best in London, had also scheduled a meeting with the Leeds United boss in England.
Mexico tried to sign Bielsa following the departure of Juan Carlos Osorio, but were rejected. Now, they would ask ‘El Loco’ for some advice in the search for a new boss.
Medio Tempo even claims that Bielsa has a US$30m release clause, which the Mexican FA can’t afford. So they expect him to suggest one of his ‘disciples’ for the job.
Tata Martino, Mauricio Pochettino and Eduardo Berizzo are all named as potential options, although only the latter one seems to be available for the position.
