You won’t find much stuff about Mamadou Mbaye online. For being a 20-year-old player who’s still to breakthrough for a major club, there’s only bits of news about him here and there.
The defender belonged to Cadiz until this summer, when he was reportedly signed by Watford. But as the Hornets apparently don’t consider him to be ready for the first team squad, they’ve loaned him out.
Spanish side Real Murcia were expecting to get him this month, but they’ve failed to. The player ended up moving to France, where he’s signing for Troyes.
The transfer was revealed by agent Quique Piña on Instagram.
Now as Real Murcia had been in negotiations for the player, their director Toni Hernandez spoke to local outlet Cadena SER this Friday. He confirmed the talks for the player, but called the transfer an opportunity, and not a necessity. That means the club won’t go after another target for the position.
“It was more of an opportunity offered by the market, more than a need in itself, we have central defenders and several players who can act there”.
