Manchester United will not be signing Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard this summer, despite making an enquiry for the Frenchman.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who provide an update on the situation around the Frenchman today.
Yesterday we covered a report from L’Equipe that stated Manchester United wouldn’t be getting the full-back, having shown up a bit late to get negotiations underway with Bayern.
Sky back that up, explaining that while Pavard was ‘one of the candidates’ to leave the German giants but that is no longer the case after some strong performances in pre-season.
So far, he has beaten newcomer Noussair Mazraoui to a first-team spot and, as a result, that’s seen a departure ruled out.
“He will definitely stay in Munich. after he went to the bosses, there was another enquiry from Manchester United,” reports journalist Marc Behrenbeck.
He adds that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had ‘flirted with’ the Frenchman but a move to Old Trafford was ‘out of the question’ and he declined the approach.
According to Sky, there had also not been negotiations between the two clubs, so a transfer was not an active possibility. Nor will it be, it seems, with neither Bayern nor Pavard interested in the move this summer.
