Andrew Irving is set to fly out and seal a shock departure from West Ham United, with Sparta Prague finalising a deal for him.
That’s according to iSport. They cover the midfielder today and his seemingly imminent departure from the London Stadium.
They explain that Sparta Prague are still deciding on their squad for the spring season. Their plan is to unleash a ‘massive attack’ to succeed in the Conference League and drive away Slavia Prague as well.
They need reinforcements for that, and a central midfielder with experience from the Premier League should help. Sports director Tomáš Rosický has confirmed they’re working to add another body to their squad.
Rosický explained: “We had a plan to bring in another midfielder. Santiago Eneme was out for a fairly significant period, which made it even more difficult. But we are satisfied with the pair of Kairinen and Mannsverk and the development of Patrik Vydra. Vydras can alternate in the hybrid position of a defender. But yes, we still need one more body.”
West Ham player set to fly out
And they’re close to doing so according to iSport. All indications point to Andrew Irving being close to arriving from West Ham. He is expected to fly to Prague soon to finalise his move. Then he will fly with manager Brian Priske to link up with Sparta in Marbella. The transfer is expected to be officially announced from there.
iSport say he has a valuation of €5m, which would make him one of the most expensive players in the Czech league. A price reduction is expected, though, because his contract is expiring. Sparta owner Daniel Křetínský also holds an equity stake in West Ham, which should help.
The deal appears to be advancing, with the 25-year-old set to fly out and seal an exit that few saw coming.
