Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an attempt to sign Salernitana star Boulaye Dia on deadline day, according to late claims.
The striker starred for the Serie A side last season, scoring 16 goals and registering six assists from 33 games. His fine displays caught the attention of several clubs and Wolves are now added to the list.
According to Tutto Salernitana, Gary O’Neil’s side made an offer to sign the 26-year-old but it was turned down by the Italian club.
The outlet make no mention of the details of the proposal or the figures offered by the Premier League side, but this information is shared by Foot Mercato journalist Sébastien Denis.
He took to Twitter to explain that Wolves wanted to take the player on a paid loan deal with a mandatory purchase option but that was rejected by Salernitana. Denis also adds the Senegal international ‘shouldn’t move’ before the window closes.
Wolves will have to look elsewhere if they still wish to bolster their attack.
Dia initially joined Salernitana on a loan deal last summer and his stay there was made permanent earlier this year.
