Chelsea are in the picture to sign River Plate’s Ian Subiabre, according to multiple claims from South America.

The 18-year-old made four appearances for River Plate’s first team, while his displays for Argentina at the 2025 South American U20 Championship didn’t go unnoticed as he scored three goals from six games.

Journalist Uriel Iugt took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the forward’s agent will have a meeting with Chelsea in London next week.

The journalist adds the representative will also meet other clubs, without mentioning the details of those clubs, during his trip to Europe.

Olé back up Iugt’s claim and provide more on the Blues’ interest in the young talent. He was recommended to the English club by their South American scout, Alisson Marins.

A few weeks ago, former Argentina international Claudio Caniggia became the player’s agent. The report states he will travel to London to hold a meeting with the west London club’s officials.

Chelsea haven’t yet made contact with River Plate over Subiabre’s potential transfer. His contract lasts until December 2026, and it includes a €30m clause.

If the Premier League side want to sign the teenager, Olé state they have to activate the clause or make an offer close to €30m. Next week’s meeting with the agent could be key to understand whether Chelsea will try to sign Subiabre.
