At the start of this year, Italian journalist Rudy Galetti stated Everton made an attempt to sign Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto in the winter market, after failing last summer.
The Toffees didn’t manage to secure the winger’s services in January and they are looking to try again this summer.
That’s according to Galetti, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim ‘nothing has changed since January’ in Everton’s plan for the Leeds player.
Sean Dyche’s side are ‘still keeping pressure on’ the 20-year-old, and have continued to hold talks, likely with his camp.
Galetti claims the Merseyside club will make a new attempt to sign the Italy international and he adds ‘developments are expected soon’ in this case.
Everton’s latest interest in the Leeds attacker is backed up Sport Mediaset, who also state that they have made contact with his entourage to understand if a deal can be negotiated.
They add Gnonto will ‘soon become a Premier League player again’, without providing any further context or specifying whether the Championship side are willing to let him leave.
Gnonto managed nine goals and three assists from 44 games for Leeds last season.
